Selangor’s Living Heritage
The Selangor Royal Heritage Forest brings together 26 Permanent Reserved Forests across Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat. Covering approximately 108,000 hectares along the Central Forest Spine, this interconnected landscape protects important wildlife habitats and water catchment areas
Officially declared on 28 November 2023, the Selangor Royal Heritage Forest represents a long-term commitment to protect the state’s natural treasures.
It brings conservation, scientific research, environmental education and responsible nature recreation together within one protected landscape—ensuring that its forests can be appreciated today and safeguarded for future generations.

Beyond the greenery, a remarkable variety of wildlife continues to inhabit Selangor’s forests. These include the Malayan Tiger, Black Panther, Clouded Leopard, Malayan Sun Bear, Malayan Tapir, Pig-tailed Macaque, Sumatran Serow and Barking Deer. Their presence reflects the natural richness that continues to be preserved in the state, as well as the important role Selangor’s forests play as habitats for a wide range of wildlife.
