Get to Know Gunung GAP

The hiking trail begins at The Gap at an elevation of approximately 863 metres. Along the ascent, visitors can observe changes in the forest ecosystem according to altitude, from Hill Dipterocarp Forest and Upper Dipterocarp Forest to Montane Forest and Ericaceous Forest at higher elevations.

The Gunung Gap area and its surrounding landscape also hold significant conservation value. Nearby lies the Fraser’s Hill Wildlife Reserve, covering 2,978 hectares and gazetted since 1922. The Fraser’s Hill landscape and its surrounding forests are rich in biodiversity, with more than 250 bird species and over 1,500 plant species recorded, including 337 species endemic to Peninsular Malaysia, alongside a wide variety of mammals, reptiles, amphibians and insects.
